Sessions

Your Free Initial Consultation is a no-obligation, information-based session—a great opportunity for us to meet and explore how hypnotherapy could support you. These sessions last around an hour and can take place either online or in person at The Clifton Practice in Bristol.


During our time together, we’ll talk about the goals you’d like to achieve and the changes you’re hoping to make. I’ll explain how Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works in simple, easy-to-understand terms, including how your mind processes thoughts and emotions in relation to your specific concerns.

You’ll also have time to ask any questions you may have.


If you decide that hypnotherapy is the right path for you—and you feel comfortable with us working together—I’ll put together a personalised treatment plan.

We’ll schedule your first session, usually within a week, and I’ll provide you with a hypnotic relaxation audio track to support you between sessions.

Do I have to talk about the past?
Not in detail, no.
This approach is focused on progress and change. We’ll talk about what’s been difficult in a useful, supportive way, but we mainly focus on what you want to improve and the steps to help you move forward.
What does hypnosis feel like?
Most people describe hypnosis as deeply relaxing, calm and surprisingly natural , similar to that drifting feeling just before sleep. You remain aware and in control throughout. It’s not mind control, and you can’t be made to do anything against your will.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different. Some people notice changes quickly, while others prefer a steadier pace. In your free initial consultation, we’ll talk through what you want help with and what a sensible plan might look like, with an average of of 8-12 sessions.
Can I do sessions online?
Yes, I offer both online and in-person sessions. Online hypnotherapy is just as effective and works well if you want flexibility, comfort, or prefer speaking from home.
What happens in the free consultation?
It’s a relaxed conversation where you can explain what’s been going on and what you’d like to change. I’ll answer any questions you have and talk you through how Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works, so you can decide if it feels right for you.
What if I’m not sure hypnotherapy will work for me?
That’s completely normal, especially if it’s your first time. You don’t need to be “good at relaxing” or know exactly what to say. The process is structured, supportive and designed to feel straightforward.
