My parents travelled around the world a lot when I was a child meaning I have lived quite a multi-cultural life to date, and have learnt in the process how to maintain a positive outlook on life and always move forward, whatever the challenge.
I grew up in the seventies in Queensland, Australia, on a cattle farm before my family moved back to Cornwall for 5 years and then to the South-West of France in the early eighties to restore a traditional French farmhouse, surrounded by sunflowers. Within 3 months I was attending the local French Secondary School. I was thrown in at the deep end as it were and had to learn French or not really be understood by anyone. It taught me that most – if not all – difficulties can be overcome through trial and perseverance.
After taking a French degree in Gas, Plumbing, Heating and Electrical installations, I moved to Portugal where I set up my own successful business for 12 years – and added another language to my bow. In 2006 I moved back to England to work for major contractors – Aquatonics (UK) Ltd and Shire Intergrated systems, working on such major projects as the London 2012 Olympic Park and the Royal London Hospital. I found I was becoming increasingly interested in the stress of the workplace and how some employees did – or didn’t – cope with it.
It was around this time that I started to think about becoming a Hypnotherapist and in 2019 I enrolled at Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training, one of the leading hypnotherapy training schools in the UK, founded by my father, David Newton. After 10 months intensive training I am now a fully qualified Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, working from the Clifton Pratice in Bristol. I am happily married and have 2 children.
